Hiking Footwear - Whats on your feet?

Hiking footwear options have evolved through the years, from leather boots to something more minimal.  Providing your feet with protection comes in many forms.  The major differences being weight, flexibility and breathability.  Making miles on the trail more enjoyable for ultralight hikers for years, but now becoming more mainstream.  The reason?  People are tired of having their feet hurt!

The popularity of trail running has helped the foot wear market.  Making the demand for light weight material used to construct footwear more mainstream.  This has helped hikers as well; giving more options. Making heavy boots and traditional shoes obsolete for some.
